【拓展】despite 和 in spite of 的区分

最重要的区分:despite 后面可以跟名词性短语或从句,而 in spite of 后只能跟名词或名词性短语,并且二者的语气也有些微区分,下面一块儿来看看几个例句~

despite 虽然,固然

〔辨析〕语气较轻,与 in spite of 比拟用得略少。

Despite all their efforts to win the game, they were defeated by 4 to 3.

固然他们不遗余力想博得角逐,最后仍是以4比3的比分被击败。

She decided to help her husband despite the fact that he had cheated on her.

虽然丈夫对她不忠,她仍是决议要帮他。

in spite of 无论,掉臂

〔辨析〕语气较强,比 despite 更常见。

In spite of the rain, the game went on.

虽然下着雨,角逐仍在继续。

She loved her husband in spite of the fact that he earned less money than her.

固然丈夫没有本身赚钱多,她依然爱着他。

【PS: despite/in spite of the fact that 这类句式是准确的,可是有点累坠,写作时可以用 although 一词来替换】
